Wedgie - Having one's underwear or other garments "wedged" between the buttocks. This can occur naturally and is referred to as the underwear (or diaper) "riding up."

My little man woke up from his 3 hour nap today pulling at his behind. I nervously took off his shorts (anticipating a terrible poo), butt was pleasantly surprised by the cutest little wedgie I've ever seen! He's a Havill!!!

Ethan turned the big "4" this weekend... We celebrated his birthday in style with a fabulous Star Trek inspired bash.

On that day, I watched her get ready for her BIG day.... on that day, I watched her anxiously prepare for the biggest day in her life. On that gorgeous Saturday afternoon, I watched my best friend marry my brother. I precisely remember how calm she was. She looked stunning. Those memories are so, so precious. I remember standing at the front of the church anxiously awaiting her to walk down the aisle. Her Dad walked her down the aisle with so much pride and she just glowed.I watched the groom choke back tears. I bawled. It was such an awesome experience having my best friend marry my brother. Today, 5 years ago was the day Andrea and Jeff were married. Happy Anniversary to you both.

It's that time of year folks....RELAY FOR LIFE!! Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length. We have such a fun time doing it as well.

Relay For Life is a life-changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people to:

• Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight.
• Remember loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, people who have walked alongside people battling cancer can grieve and find healing.
• Fight Back. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease.

Andrea wanted this year's relay to be the biggest and best turnout yet. She was 100% dedicated to the American Cancer Society and her team, "Team Andrea". Not only was she the captain of our team, she was also on the committee for the whole relay as well. So, imagine all that she was going through plus running around everywhere to make sure events were taking place when need be, while also walking laps on the track, and finally enjoying the spirit of our amazing team. Not to mention, a HUGE smile on her face the whole entire time.

This weekend the team is putting on a donations only yard sale. The sale is tomorrow (April 25) from 7:30-12 at 1421 Brett Cabel Road, Washington In (Jenelle's home). All donations will go to The American Cancer Society on behalf of "Team Andrea".

Time for a change...

I'm ready for a change. I totally feel like I'm in a rut--mostly because I truly am at the moment. I have the exact same routine every single day, which works for me and the rest of my clan. I like the fact that it "works", but I need some excitement and I need things shaken up a bit. I'm ready to turn off the tube and get back into reading (not school reading either) fun reading is what I'm talking about. I'm ready to do house projects, work outside, and most of all enjoy my family. So, expect some changes from me soon!!!

Speaking of changes, Mr. C is doing a lot of that lately. I swear he is a 5 year old in a 13 month old body. Some of his new tricks are:
he brushes his teeth on his own,
he doesn't play with toys anymore, he climbs on them to get on the couch,
his new words are: geesey (Gracey), mamaw, papaw, juice, paci,
nyah( john and aisha's dog), bath, ny ny (night night),
he can point out his nose, teeth, eyes, ears, and belly,
he has 8 teeth,
while reading to him, he can point out several objects, like a ball, a dog, a cat, and a baby,
he tells everyone he is "1" by holding up his index finger,
he knows how the ducky, doggie, kitty, and bee goes,
he loves "the itsy bitsy spider"
He's starting to be a picky eater. He loves fruit. Hates any kind of meat. Loves grilled cheese. Hates milk.
Last but not least, (my favorite) if we ask him where Aunt Andy (Andrea) is, he looks up and points to the sky!!!
In a nutshell, I feel that he's developing quite well. This is by far my favorite stage of his little life. I know I say that at every stage, but at 13 months he is just a blast and is absorbing so much!

To begin, I just want to thank everyone for all the thoughts and prayers I received within the last month. All of the emails, cards, phone calls, texts, etc. gave me the strength and courage to get through each and every day. I cannot express how grateful I am to have so many wonderful, caring people in my life. I truly am blessed. As everyone knows, Heaven gained a beautiful angel on March 17. My sweet, sweet friend Andrea has left behind a spirit that I will carry with me forever and pass along to all those who come in contact with me-somehow, someway. Although I am extremely sad and overwhelmed with such an undeniable emptiness, I have a job to do and that is to ensure that Andrea's smile and passion for life is carried on in such a way that is unimaginable. I will save the details between Andrea and I, but to honor her I will make certain that she will be remembered. I want to say thank you to my brother Jeff, Vicki and Greg (Andrea's mom and step-dad), and Bill and Brenda( Andrea's dad and step-mom) for allowing me the opportunity to spend with Andrea her last moment here on Earth. You all gave me the opportunity to talk to Andrea in a way I thought wasn't possible. The pure beauty of our last few conversations together will stay with me forever. If anyone has ever been in a situation like this, it's the most surreal moment a person can endure. I will never forget those last few moments....I also want to say thanks to my mom for your unconditional support and love you gave Jeff. This will forever be engrained in my memory of this chapter in my life. You showed true characteristics of the mother I want to be for Cohen, and I pray to God that I will never have to fill those shoes, but I know that if the situation arises, I will know how to be there for my son because of your example. Thanks to Jim,Kathy, and Joey for taking amazing care of Cohen. Without your help, I wouldn't have been able to be with Andrea and her family. You allowed me to be there for my brother as well, and for that I'm forever thankful. I want to thank Clay as well for being with me through all of this. You never left my side--you are amazing! Grandma and Terry too. Thanks for being with Ethan. You put Jeff's mind at ease with making sure Ethan was in good hands. Kristin and Jenelle- what can I say?? Thanks for everything...thanks for being there for Andrea, myself, and the rest of Andrea's family. Lauren, thank you so much for helping out with the slideshow. There wouldn't have been a slideshow without your generosity. For everyone else, thank you. Thank you for everything you've done for all the families that were grieving. From all the meals, flowers, donations, cards, etc your kindness will never be forgotten. Finally, thank you Andrea for the unbelievable friendship you and I have shared. It's like we've always said, I only hope that everyone at some point in their life is fortunate enough to be involved in such a beautiful friendship. Thank you for all that you've taught me and the unbelievable memories that you and I will have, forever.

Cohen's Birthday

We had Cohen's birthday party on Saturday and it was a hit! After the quick planning and busting my behind to get things ready, everything turned out marvelous. Cohen had a blast---he ran around the house like such a big boy. We think he was showing off a bit-but hey, it was his day! Mom and Ethan came down Friday to help Clay and I get the house ready and to help with the cooking. Mom fixed veggie soup and Kathy fixed cream of broccoli soup. We also had mini sandwiches, buffalo wings, cocktail weenies, veggie tray, and other finger foods. Mom and I had such a blast making cupcakes! We haven't laughed so hard for quite some time and man, did it feel good! So, for our little guys first birthday party I think we deserve a pat on the back! Happy Birthday my little love bug!

It's official....our baby is 1 today!

I remember the day like it was yesterday. It was the most beautiful March day-warm weather and sunny. I was inside vacuuming the stairs, washing windows, and cooking. Clay was tearing out ivy in our front yard. Grandma Sherryl was in town staying with us as well. She was cleaning the windows on the outside and helping Clay. Around 4:30 Clay and I decided to take Gracey on what would be our last walk as a threesome. We walked to the park that we always take her to. As soon as we got to the park, I told Clay that the contractions I had been having all weekend were getting much more intense and more difficult to handle. So, we started timing them and started the long walk home. We finally made it back home and I knew this was for real. I took a bath to calm me down. Clay went to get gas and then we were ready to go! The ride to the hospital was perfect. Just Clay and I and our soon to be new baby boy. After we got into our delivery room, things went so smooth. I really did have the perfect labor experience. I got an epidural and my water broke on its own. I started pushing around 11:30 and Mr. Cohen James Havill was born at 2:03a.m. on March 3, 2008. He was the most beautiful creature I've ever laid eyes on. All of our family and friends were there-it truly was perfect. Since the day Cohen was born, we knew that he was going to be special. He's always ahead of the game and never ceases to amaze us. We've been so blessed and fortunate to have such a beautiful, healthy baby! He is now one year old and not looking back. Times a changing...

Wow, have we had a crazy couple of weeks!!! We started out with Andrea's surgery, which went well. She went to Indy yesterday to have her staples removed. I spent some time with her this past weekend and she looked AMAZING-didn't feel too great, but she was up and active.. We had Grandma Sherryl and Ethan here that week after surgery for 4 days. The day after they left, the winter storm forced us out of our house for 8 days. Thankfully John and Aisha opened their home to us plus Gracey-girl. Finally, our neighbors called and told us Tuesday that our power was back on, so we packed up and headed back home. Not even 20 minutes after being home, a very nice, honest UE student hit Clay's car. Not too much damage, but seriously. Then, yesterday I spent 2 hours at Raben Tire becuase I had a nail in my tire. I got home and then noticed the ceiling in our spare bedroom had fallen in. I'm ready for this cloud to be removed from above me. On a lighter note, Cohen is changing so much. He's becoming quite the charmer! It's amazing to witness his curiosity.
So, at 11 months....
he walks and runs. I'm not kidding. He started walking at 10 months and has now advanced to running.
He waves bye-bye.
He raises his arms to show that he is a "big boy".
He know how the ducky goes. It sounds like "kak, kak".
We can ask him how old he's going to be and he holds up his index finger. My favorite!!
He gives an abundance of kisses.
He says Dadda, Momma, Go, Bad, and Boy.
If we tell him to sit down, he sits down.
He eats pretty much everything.
When Gracey barks, he says "Bad, bad"
When he's doing something he shouldn't, he says "Bad, bad boy"
If we say "no", he shakes his head back and forth.
He will blow when we put a kleenex to his nose.
And of course, he kicks a soccer ball.. He rarely, if ever picks it up, already knows not to use his hands!

TUESDAY
I spoke with Brenda this morning and she said that they will be coming home today. Please pray for their saftey in this crazy Indiana weather. WELCOME HOME ANDREA!!!

MONDAY
Unfortunately, Andrea will not be coming home today. I'm still waiting to hear back from my brother/Brenda to get all the information, but what I do know is that she had to have a CAT scan this morning because of redness and swelling around her incision. However, the CAT scan came back fine and her WBC was fine, so no infection. They want to keep her again over night to watch the area. She's been having a rough time with this one and I know everyone is anticipating her safe arrival home. Mostly her special little man Ethan. He's been at our house since Thursday evening and he's just such a joy. Rotten as ever, but such a sweet little blessing. Prayers, prayers, and more prayers!

Andrea's been out of surgery now for a little over an hour now. She's out of recovery and is ICU now. She looks AMAZING!! She's in a ton of pain, but they are pumping her with meds. She says on a level of 1-10, she's a 50. Doctor also told her she will be able to drive in 2 weeks, which she is super excited about. He felt comfortable saying that he removed the tumor which was the size of a golf ball size. Mentioned the proton radiation as well. Most likely will be going through that again but they need to speak with the oncologist first. That's it for now. Thanks for all the prayers!

Andrea went into surgery right at 7:30 as expected. The surgeons expect the surgery to last anywhere from 4-6 hours. Andrea was extremely positive and ready to get started so she could of course pick out her much anticipated meal. You wouldn't know that she was getting ready to have this major operation---she's so uplifting and shows no sign of nervousness. We will get an update probably within an hour or so. Please keep Andrea in your prayers at this very intense time. More to come in a bit...

I hope this entry allows those of you who don't know Andrea (my sister-in-law/ best friend) to get to know her and know the path she has been traveling for the last 3 years. Andrea and I have been friends for over 14 years now and it just so happened that she married my brother. They got married the same year Clay and I did, and had a beautiful baby boy the year after. That same year when Ethan was only 6 months old Andrea was diagnosed with brain cancer. At the time she was only 25 years old and had her whole life ahead of her. Since she was diagnosed, she has been through 5 different surgeries and been through numerous rounds of radiation and chemotherapy. She has now lost her hair on one side of her head. Last week, Andrea found out that she has a new tumor just above her left eye in the frontal lobe of her brain and now has to go through yet another round of radiation. For those of you that don't know Andrea, she is the prime example of a true fighter. If you look up the word HOPE in the dictionary, you will see her beautiful face with her amazing smile staring right back at you. I've never met a person in my life that has the determination that she does. She truly is amazing. So, here are some pictures of Andrea---some old, some new. Andrea, Good Luck today and tomorrow!!

We had a wonderful Christmas season this year. After an exhausting seven Christmas parties to attend, we survived our first Christmas with Cohen. Clay managed to spread the Christmas spirit through the form of the flu. He blessed about ten different people, luckily our little guy and myself didn't catch the icky bug. Clay surprised me with a new camera-it's unbelievable. It can do so much and the quality of the pictures is amazing. Here's some pics from the holiday season.

I know, I'm a terrible blogger. I love to post pictures, but I hate the whole process of doing so. It's been pretty busy around the Havill household this month. From school, to Thanksgiving, Christmas decorations, to Otter's wedding, not to mention everything else it that goes on, we've been crazy. Oh, this post is for Grandma Sherryl and Grandpa Terry. This weekend we remembered how life was pre-Cohen. Let's just say Clay and I were a little weirded out by the boredom and the quietness of the house. I spent most of the weekend studying--YUCK!! Clay worked all weekend...We did manage a little time alone at our favorite little dive, The Slice. Not exactly five star, but we love it and we've made it our little place. Gracey didn't know how to act either besides getting sick. I had a ton of studying to do and Clay is crazy at work, so Jim and Kathy had our little man on Saturday and Sunday.Jeff, Andrea, and Ethan came down Friday night. We had such a good time. We went to dinner at the new Gattitown and it was a blast. Saturday I met up with Kathy and she took Cohen. They had a wedding in Bloomington, so Aunt Rosemary and Uncle Thom had the pleasure of watching Cohen for a couple of hours. Kelley, Andrea, and the kiddos came to visit as well.

Sunday, Kathy took some wonderful pictures of Cohen outside with his fall gear---they turned out really well! We finally picked up our little booger and he showed off his new kicks that mamaw and papaw bought for him. Here are some more pics.....

Yep, that's right---Cohen's first tooth finally popped through his little gum this week. I tried to take a picture, but it didn't work out that great. So far, I don't think teething has bothered him that much. Thank goodness! We got a call from Cohen's sitter on Thursday--she said he was getting sick again. Just a little buggie that was making him not feel very well. The other day I took my camera into Cohen' babysitter to take a few pictures of him in action. It was neat seeing him in a different environment and watching him play with the other kiddos. Here's a couple of pictures....

I just wanted to remind everyone that Andrea will be traveling to Bloomington today for a preliminary round of the new radiation treatment she will be getting. They are trying proton radiation this time around and it's very extensive. She will have to drive to Bloomington 5 days a week for I'm thinking about 5-6 weeks. She still can't drive for 4 more months, so someone has to take her to bloomington. So, let's pray for her and her driver's safety as they travel everyday and pray that she handles the radiation as much as possible.

Well, it's been awhile since I've blabbed.... The flu bug caught up with me this weekend so of course I didn't get anything accomplished that I wanted to. I wanted to reorganize Cohen's clothes and put away and get his big boy clothes put away in his closet. Didn't happen. Wanted to do yard work. Didn't happen. Wanted to get ahead in my classes. Didn't happen. Friday night we went to the UE soccer game. Saturday I woke up ill....I think I puked about 20+ times. I stayed upstairs all day while Clay played with Cohen and kept him company. It's Tuesday and I'm just now feeling like myself again, finally. So, I have a big test today and then tonight's the big night!! UE vs. IU Men's Soccer!! We can't wait---hopefully it won't rain so Cohen will get to go. Ta Ta!!

Whew, am I glad it's the weekend!! The weekend started with a phone call from Cohen's doc saying that his x-ray looked good---no fracture,fluid,bruise etc... He's back to his bubbly little self, thank goodness. Thanks for all the prayers!! I went to dinner with Aisha and Julia tonight to Hacienda. We had some yummy margaritas and then headed back to my house to meet up with the guys. Julia introduced me to an awesome photo editing website.. It's really cool and I'm seriously hooked--plus, it's free! Here are some of my practice rounds.... Have a good weekend!
